Privacy Policy

Your Privacy

Internet security and your personal privacy are very important to Worcestershire Beekeepers’ Association (WBKA).
We take every reasonable step to ensure that any personal information you provide is kept secure and used only for the purposes described below.

Information We Collect

1. When you contact us

If you have expressed an interest in beekeeping through our contact form, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and postal address.
Your details are forwarded to your nearest Branch Secretary, who may be able to offer help or guidance.
All contact form records are deleted at the end of each year.

2. When you use the swarm collection service

If you use our website to find a beekeeper to collect a swarm, we use your postcode to calculate your location and show the nearest registered swarm collectors.
We store the geocoding result (latitude and longitude) so we can understand which areas are most affected by swarm activity and help improve coverage across the county.
We do not store or share your exact address.

3. When you register as a swarm collector

If you are a beekeeper who collects swarms, your contact details and approximate location (based on postcode) are shown to users searching for swarm assistance in your area.
At the end of each year, you will receive an email asking whether you wish to remain visible in swarm searches for the following season.
If you do not respond, your listing will become invisible until you log in again or update your details.

4. When you sell honey through our website

If you register to sell local honey, your postcode is used to calculate your distance from users searching for honey sellers nearby.
Only your approximate location (not your full address) is used in searches, and this is visible only to website visitors looking for honey in your area.

5. When you log in

Logging in to the website prevents your account details from being automatically removed.
Accounts are deleted only after at least 24 months of inactivity.

6. Website analytics

We collect anonymous statistical information about how the website is used, such as the number of visits and which pages are most popular.
This helps us improve the site, but we do not track individual users or their browsing behaviour.

How We Use Your Information

  • To connect potential beekeepers with their local branch.

  • To display registered swarm collectors or honey sellers near users searching by postcode.

  • To manage membership and send important communications such as event reminders or renewal notices.

  • To maintain and improve our website and services.

We never sell, exchange, or share your personal information with other companies or individuals.

Cookies

Our site uses small text files called cookies to remember your preferences and improve your experience.
Cookies cannot harm your computer and contain only simple information.
You can view or delete them at any time through your browser settings.

Who Else Sees Your Information

We will not share your personal information with anyone outside the Association unless required by law or a court order.

Your Consent

By using our website, you consent to WBKA collecting and using your information as described in this Privacy Policy.

If you have any concerns about how your data is handled, please contact us at: 07800 856386 or speak to your local Branch Secretary.
