This is the parent organisation, with charity status, to which the seven local beekeeping branches belong. It is through the WBKA that we are all members of BBKA, and BDI and are eligible to claim gift aid on subscriptions.
The management of WBKA is by an executive committee made up of two members from each branch (usually elected at the branch AGM), and four officers, President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary., (who should be elected annually at the County AGM.)
There are four Executive committee meetings per year in February, May, August and November, and the County AGM (usually in April)
The secretary distributes the agenda (which is usually a repeat formula, on an annual cycle), prepares and distributes the minutes and communicates with and directs enquiries to the relevant branch secretaries.
The treasurer gives a finance check at each executive meeting, sends capitation monies from branch treasurers to the BBKA., and BDI, and prepares accounts for the Charity commission and H.M.Revenue and Customs.
The president and vice-president represent beekeepers at public events, and civic functions and in activities which involve members of all branches. (BBKA exams, Asian hornet and environmental issues, conferences, shows, the press, yearbook, and presenting prizes)
2027 AGM
Post holders have indicated a willingness to remain if the membership wishes them to continue. However, all posts are for one year and nominations are invited from any fully paid-up members for any of the following posts. County President, Vice President, County Treasurer, County Secretary.
Nominations are also invited from any fully paid-up members for any of the following supporting roles: Shadow Secretary, Shadow treasurer and Yearbook Editor.
Completed nomination papers should be received by the secretary not less than 7 days before the AGM i.e., on or before 17th April 2027.
